How to Wash & Dry Merino Wool at Home
Zip up all zippers and turn garments inside out.
Wash only with other soft, like fabrics—avoid bulky or abrasive items like jeans or workwear.
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle using a non-abrasive, fragrance-free, dye free detergent.
Hang dry for best results. If needed, you may tumble dry on low or no heat, but avoid high heat to prevent shrinkage.
Do not iron, dry clean, or expose merino to high heat.
Field Washing Guidelines
Merino naturally resists odor, so it doesn’t need to be washed often—even on multi-day hunts. Most users report little to no odor after several days of wear.
If you do need to wash in the field:
Zip up garments.
Use a clean, moving water source.
Submerge and gently massage to remove dirt or stains. Unscented hand soap may be used on tougher spots.
Wring out excess water and hang dry with limbs spread out. Avoid drying too close to fire.
Even when wet, Merino retains about 85% of its warmth—so you can count on it, rain or shine.
Storage Tips
Always store merino only when completely dry.
Keep it protected from moths, mice, and other critters.
